This very special romantic bolt hole, set on the side of a lush green valley, makes an incredible private spot to laze away a week or two.
The wonderful rambling stone-built cottage is surrounded by eighty acres of Pentrusco meadows and woodland, a perfect setting for those wanting to hide away.
The cosy lounge features a huge wood burning stove and has a comfy sofa, chairs and vintage window seats for relaxing, perhaps watching a dvd, or reading a book or two by the light of a gentle reading lamp.
The dining room is perfect for romantic evenings in, with romantic arched windows, a second wood burning stove, dining table and another comfy sofa by the fire. At one end the room adjoins the large sunny kitchen with everything you need to cook up a great meal for two! The kitchen door opens up onto a private terrace with stream running by.
Upstairs the cottage bedroom has a king sized bed with crisp linen and duvet and there is an ensuite shower, loo and bathroom.
Outside is a large private garden, with pretty flowers and meadows beyond the garden wall. Perfect for summer picnics on the lawn.
Whether you choose to fill your days walking, cycling, horse riding or such like or instead tuck yourself away in a shady corner of the garden with a good book or two, one thing is for sure. Once you discover Pentrusco you will want to come again. This cottage is about total relaxation.
SLEEPS 2: King sized bed, bedding included.
RELAXING: Cosy, airy and warm oak beamed living room with full central heating, attached library, soft seating, wood burning stove and a basket of logs.
EATING IN: Flag stone dining room with wood burning stove, comfy sofa and dining table adjoins the large sunny fully equipped kitchen with range double oven, fridge, microwave and washer/dryer.
BATHING: Well heated bathroom, shower room and loo. Towels are provided for you.
OUTSIDE: A long hedged private lane leads up to the cottage and large private garden. There is ample parking.
GET AWAY FROM IT ALL: Pentrusco is an "off grid" holiday where you can go uninterrupted from the outside world for as long as you wish! However you can get mobile reception if you drive five minutes up the lanes or climb the hill behind the house. You are a 10-15 minute stroll from the local pub should you fancy someone else doing the cooking!
PETS: Up to two well behaved dogs are very welcome.
SHORT BREAKS: Available off peak.
WHAT TO DO
WALKING: There is some seriously fine walking from the door what ever your level of fitness, from the stunning walk up Pentrusco Hill (literally on the doorstep) where you have an amazing view of the valleys, and of a zillion stars at night time to the famous walks of Offa's Dyke Path and Glyndwr's Way. Close by is Beacon Hill Common with 5000 acres of common land and nature reserve.
WINE & DINE: The welcoming Castle Inn Pub is just down the lane, a great stroll on a summers day for lunch or a large hearty supper by the fire. The market town of Knighton has a range of eateries and within easy reach Ludlow and Hay on Wye both have stellar reputations for great food.
TOWNS & VILLAGES: The historic market town of Knighton is just over 2 miles away with all the amenities you would need. Historic Ludlow famous for its restaurants, festivals, and charming independent shops is a 20 minute drive away. Within easy reach is Hay on Wye -famed for its bookshops and literary festival, the Cathedral City of Hereford, with the Mappa Mundi, Builth Wells where the Royal Welsh Showground is sited, Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury.
ACTIVITIES: Birdwatching; rambling; cycling; horse riding; shooting; canoeing; fishing; gliding and rally driving are all available locally.
EXCURSIONS: There are many great places for you to visit including Powis Castle, Rare Breed farm, Kite and Bird of Prey Centre, Knighton Space Guard Centre, Hay on Wye book festival, Royal Welsh Showground and the Judges Rooms.
